Course Description:

This course prepares students for success in high school mathematics by building a strong foundation in essential algebraic concepts. Topics include integers, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, order of operations, introduction to algebraic expressions, linear equations, graphing, and introductory geometry. Students will develop problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning through hands-on activities, real-world applications, and collaborative projects.

Guided by a biblical worldview, this course emphasizes the order and logic inherent in mathematics as a reflection of God’s perfect design. Students will be encouraged to see math not only as a tool for understanding the world but also as a way to develop discipline, stewardship, and critical thinking skills that can be used to serve others and glorify God.

This course provides interactive instruction twice per week, allowing students to ask homework questions and the instructor to verify that concepts are being mastered. We will use the Thinkwell Homeschool Prealgebra curriculum which provides a comprehensive overview of foundational skills to prepare for Algebra 1 and beyond.

This course emphasizes key math ideas and making meaning of those ideas in real-world situations. This course will offer opportunities for students to present solutions during each math class session. This is a safe environment where we respect and encourage one other and celebrate our accomplishments. As a team the teacher and students will encourage one another on the math journey. We will work together as we learn and compose solutions.

The Thinkwell Homeschool Prealgebra program features 18 hours of engaging video lectures and detailed Notes that are easily accessible to the student, providing plenty of detailed example problems that provide a road map to help students solve questions in the Interactive Exercises, Worksheets, Quizzes, Practice Tests and Tests.

Grading Breakdown:

4. Participation: Student participation is encouraged at each session, we will rely on each other to solve and present solutions during class. Homework should be completed on time before the next class session. This will help us all keep the pace and will make our sessions productive.

Homework Policy:
