Course Description:
This course prepares students for success in high school mathematics by building upon the student's foundational understanding of high school Algebra 1 and Geometry. Algebra 2 provides a comprehensive overview of foundational skills to prepare forPreCalculus and beyond. We will cover intermediate and advanced algebraic concepts and computations so this class requires a solid understanding of all basic mathematical operations and successful completion ofAlgebra 1. It will quickly advance to function graphing and abstract intermediate algebra concepts.
This course emphasizes key math ideas and making meaning of those ideas in real-world situationsGuided by a biblical worldview, this course emphasizes the order and logic inherent in mathematics as a reflection of God’s perfect design. Students will be encouraged to see math not only as a tool for understanding the world but also as a way to develop discipline, stewardship, and critical thinking skills that can be used to serve others and glorify God.
This course provides interactive instruction twice per week, allowing students to ask homework questions and the instructor to verify that concepts are being mastered. We will use the Thinkwell Homeschool Algebra 2 curriculum which provides a comprehensive overview of foundational skills to prepare for Algebra 1 and beyond.
This course emphasizes key math ideas and making meaning of those ideas in real-world situations. This course will offer opportunities for students to present solutions during each math class session. This is a safe environment where we respect and encourage one other and celebrate our accomplishments. As a team the teacher and students will encourage one another on the math journey. We will work together as we learn and compose solutions.
We will use the Thinkwell Homeschool Algebra 2 curriculum which features over 18 hours of engaging video lectures and detailed Notes that are easily accessible to the student, providing plenty of detailed example problems that provide a road map to help students solve questions in the Interactive Exercises, Worksheets, Quizzes, Practice Tests and Tests.

Classroom Expectations
1. Attendance: Students should sign in 5 minutes before class begins, using their first and last name.
2. Participation: Video feature must be on, showing student’s entire face. Students may use the chatbox for questions unless called upon to unmute.
3. Preparation: Students must be seated at a table or desk with a pen/pencil, notebook and their completed homework out and ready.
4. Participation: Student participation is encouraged at each session, we will rely on each other to solve and present solutions during class. Homework should be completed on time before the next class session. This will help us all keep the pace and will make our sessions productive.
Homework Policy: Homework is an essential part of learning, it’s a great opportunity for students to practice and master the new concepts each week. All assignments must be submitted before the beginning of the next class session. Coming to class prepared will make a tremendous difference in student comprehension and class contributions.

Regarding our new partnership with Kairos Pacific University, this course is one of six HS EQUIP 210 classes that offer the opportunity to earn college credit* for our 10th-12th grade students. Students can choose to take this course for high school credit only or pay an additional $900 to receive a full 3 college credits. This will be a separate payment for the college credit on top of the original $1100 for the course. If you would like to sign up to receive college credit, you will find a separate "College Credit Add-on" course to enroll in and add to your cart. This way, you have the option for the college credit program while resting assured your child is in the class either way.
*KPU’s credits are transferable to all national colleges and universities.
