English 12 offers an in-depth study of British literature, from the medieval period through the 20th century. Students will read works by authors such as Shakespeare, Milton, Austen, and Orwell, exploring themes such as heroism, moral integrity, faith, and the human experience. Students will analyze these works through literary techniques, examining symbolism, character development, and themes. Writing assignments will include literary analysis essays and research projects that challenge students to engage deeply with the texts.
Through a biblical lens, this course encourages students to see British literature as a reflection of God’s redemptive story and the search for truth, goodness, and beauty. As they study classic texts, students will reflect on how literature has shaped the cultural and moral fabric of society and how they can use their knowledge to influence the world for Christ. The course will inspire students to connect the timeless messages of British literature with the call to live as ambassadors of God's Kingdom.
